Job Description

Role Overview
The Head of Academics is responsible for providing strong instructional leadership, setting uncompromising academic standards, and ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all classes. The role requires strategic oversight of curriculum delivery, teacher performance, assessment systems, and continuous academic improvement, in alignment with the school’s vision and values.

Educational & Professional Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related discipline (Master’s degree is an added advantage).

Recognized teaching certification with evidence of ongoing professional development.

Minimum of 5-7 years teaching experience, including 2-3 years in an academic leadership role.

Strong working knowledge of EYFS / EYC, British, Nigerian, or international curricula.

Proven experience in curriculum development, academic planning, and evaluation.

Core Competencies & Skills
Strong instructional leadership and classroom management expertise.

Excellent lesson planning, delivery oversight, and academic monitoring skills.

Ability to coach, mentor, and evaluate teachers through structured observations and feedback.

Strong analytical skills for tracking student progress and improving learning outcomes.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational, planning, and time-management abilities.

Technology & Digital Competency Requirements
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: word/excel/powerpoint

Effective use of traditional and interactive whiteboards for lesson delivery and teacher support.

Competence in Early Years Curriculum (EYC / EYFS) digital documentation, including:
Digital lesson planning and curriculum mapping.
Observation records, progress tracking, and academic reporting.

Ability to guide teachers in the purposeful use of classroom technology.
Working knowledge of digital record-keeping, confidentiality, and data protection.

Leadership & Management Requirements
Ability to set, enforce, and sustain high academic standards without dilution.

Experience in teacher performance management, including appraisals and professional development plans.

Capacity to lead academic meetings, trainings, and curriculum reviews.

Strong decision-making skills grounded in policy, evidence, and best practice.

Ability to build a culture of accountability, excellence, and collaboration.

Academic Oversight & Quality Assurance
Oversight of schemes of work, lesson plans, and academic calendars.

Monitoring teaching quality, assessment systems, and student outcomes.

Implementation and review of academic policies, procedures, and SOPs.

Strong understanding of inclusive education and differentiated instruction.

Preparation of academic reports, inspection documents, and parent communications.

Stakeholder Engagement
Professional engagement with parents, school owners, inspectors, and external partners.

Clear communication of academic expectations and progress.

Representation of the school in academic and professional forums when required.

Salary
₦100,000 – ₦150,000 monthly
(Negotiable based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated competence).
