Job Title:
Nursery Class Teacher
Job Summary:
The Nursery Class Teacher is responsible for the care, learning, and overall development of young children in the nursery class. The teacher will create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that supports early learning, social development, and foundational skills through play-based and structured activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate, play-based learning activities in line with the early years curriculum.
- Teach basic literacy, numeracy, language, and life skills.
- Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development.
- Create a warm, safe, and engaging classroom environment.
- Observe, assess, and document children’s development and learning progress.
- Identify children who may need additional support and communicate concerns appropriately.
- Maintain good classroom management and child-friendly routines.
- Ensure children’s health, safety, and well-being at all times.
- Communicate regularly with parents about children’s progress and needs.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other staff.
- Participate in school activities, trainings, and meetings.
- Uphold safeguarding policies, school rules, and professional ethics.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in any Education or a related field.
- Teaching certification or TRCN registration (where applicable).
- Experience working with young children is an added advantage.
- Good understanding of early childhood development.
- Caring, patient, and attentive personality.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for early years teaching.
- Ability to manage young children effectively.
- Observation and reporting skills.
- Teamwork and adaptability.
