Job Description

We are looking for a thoughtful, qualified Montessori Guide to lead our morning sessions. You will prepare and maintain a beautiful Montessori environment, observe children carefully, and facilitate independent learning.

This flexible arrangement is ideal for an experienced educator who values quality over quantity and wants to do meaningful work without a full-time commitment. Full time guides are also welcome

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain the Montessori prepared environment before children arrive each morning
  • Deliver authentic Montessori three-period lessons and presentations across practical life, sensory, language, and mathematics areas
  • Observe and record each child’s progress and developmental milestones
  • Implement the EYFS framework alongside Montessori principles
  • Communicate warmly and professionally with parents at drop-off and through written observations
  • Collaborate with the Head of School on planning and curriculum progression
  • Maintain a calm, orderly, and nurturing classroom atmosphere
  • Model grace and courtesy in all interactions with children and staff
  • Participate in a brief handover with the afternoon team before departing at 12pm

What we are looking for

  • A recognised Montessori diploma or certification
  • Knowledge of the British EYFS framework — strongly preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years experience working with children aged 12 months to 6 years
  • Genuine warmth, patience, and a deep love for young children
  • Strong observational skills and the ability to follow the child
  • Professional, reliable, and punctual — our children and families depend on consistency
  • Excellent communication skills with parents and colleagues
  • Comfortable working independently and taking initiative within a small team
  • Paediatric first aid certification is an advantage

What Arcadia offers

  • A genuinely beautiful, calm, and professionally run school environment
  • Small class sizes — you will know every child deeply
  • A flexible arrangement that respects your time and other commitments
  • A competitive rate
  • A supportive director and admin head who value educators
  • Opportunities to grow with the school as we expand our programmes
  • A community of engaged, invested parents who appreciate great teaching

Our ideal candidate is someone who…

Believes that the prepared environment is the teacher. Who can sit quietly and observe a child working and resist the urge to interrupt. Who understands that a child completing a task independently is more powerful than any lesson. Who brings warmth and consistency to every morning. Who sees this role as a vocation, not just a job.

Application Deadline: 30/04/26
