Skills and Experience

1. The individual must have a minimum of BA/B.ED degree or any other professional qualification would be an added advantage. BA/ B.ED Psychology/ Guidance counselling or English preferred

The individual must Love and care for children.

2. The individual must have a minimum of five years teaching experience in a school environment and as a House parent
3. The individual must be familiar with checkpoint exams, IGCSE, WAEC.
4. The individual must have good-diction and good knowledge of all Microsoft packages.
5. The individual must be highly conscientious and committed to the highest standards of professional service.
6. The individual must have the ability to relate well with different groups of students of different ages and ability levels.
7. The individual must have a history of personal achievement.
8. The individual must have an excellent listening, communication, writing, organisational, research and IT skills.

Responsibilities

General- Responsible for Hotel coordinator for the overall smooth running of the house, the supervision and guidance of students and, above all, the safety and welfare of the students. The role involves working closely with students that help with the establishment of a fair, productive, happy, social and working boarding environment.

Routines- The individual has to ensure all students have completed an induction process and their daily routines are understood and adhered to.

House Rewards and Sanctions- The individual is to ensure that all house rules adhere to and that responses are both measured and fair in relation to any contraventions.

Weekend routine- The individual ensures the supervision of weekend routines of resident borders; ensure that accurate records of students movement and liaise with the hostel co-ordinator to ensure a wide range of high quality, interesting and fulfilling activities are planned and executed.

Budget- To develop, manage, maintain and work within an allocated budget for resources and expenses with clear and open records of expenditure.

Contact with parents- The individual should build a friendly and professional working relationship with parents and guardian and ensure regular contact is maintained and recorded. Housemaster/ Housemistress should generate a boarding report at the end of every term.

Academic- Manage and maintain academic study times as stated in the hostel daily routines, be informed and aware of the academic progress of the boarders’ and facilitate academic support through the school’s academic staff. Check and sign the boarders’ communication books regularly. Ensure all assignments and projects given to boarders’ are submitted at stipulated dates and observe prep time with the boarders’ in your care.

Health and Safety- Keep the common room, dormitories and surroundings clean at all times

Ensure all boarders appear neat and tidy at all times. Make sure boarders laundries are cleaned regularly by the duty staff.
